Here are two places you should check first for Internet access when you move your new apartment:
Call the cable company.
If you plan to have cable installed in your new apartment, ask the cable company if they have any packages that involves a high speed Internet access and basic cable. Many times the local cable company may have special packages that includes cable, high speed internet access, and sometimes phone service, in one package.
Sometimes they will offer you a discount for three to six months where you pay a small fee for the package (a welcome package).
You will need a cable modem to get high speed Internet access through the cable company.
If you did not have a cable modem before you may want to ask the cable company whether they will give you the cable modem for free or whether you be charge a monthly fee for using their cable modem.

Getting high speed Internet from the phone company is called DSL for digital subscriber line.
You will need a DSL modem in order to have high speed Internet access via the phone company. If you do not have a DSL modem ask your phone company if they will provide you with a DSL modem and ask them if there would be any additional fees involved to use their DSL modem.
Compare prices and find out which one is more cost effective. Don’t be shy, ask a tenant in the apartment complex which service they use and why. Sometimes they may point you in the right direction.
I know that many of us spend a lot of time on the Internet downloading music and stuff so you may worry about how fast your Internet connection is. Honestly I’ve experienced both DSL and cable and I can tell you that both of them can get you to Internet at a very reasonable speed.
If you are moving from a previous apartment that is in town then perhaps you may be able to move with the current Internet service provider that you already have. If you can do at then this is one less thing for you to worry about.
If you cannot move with your current ISP be sure to pay your last bill and be sure you close out your account.
