When You Have Set Your Moving Date, You Should Contact Your Utility, Cable, Gas, Phone Company Etc
As soon as you know the move in date for your new apartment, you should contact your utility companies.
Call the cable company, gas, phone and all other service providers and let them know when you are moving in.
Utility cut off date
You should have the cut off date at your old apartment for the day after you plan on moving out.
You should also arrange to have your utilities turned on at your new home the day before you will arrive to unload.
By doing this, you won't be caught at your old or new home without power and water. I spent over a week without Internet access and phone service because I called my phone company too late.
